The existing installation needs to be understood
A consumer unit is central to the electrical installation, but replacing it is not simply a matter of swapping one enclosure for another. The condition of the circuits, earthing arrangements and suitability of the existing installation need to be considered.
Why customers enquire
- An older fuse board provides limited protection
- An EICR or previous electrician has recommended improvement
- A property is being renovated or extended
- Circuits require clearer identification and labelling
- A landlord or homeowner wants the installation assessed
What the work can include
Following assessment and an agreed quotation, work can include removal of the existing unit, installation of a suitable modern consumer unit, circuit identification, testing, labelling and the relevant electrical documentation.
Quotations based on the property
The number and condition of circuits vary considerably. Send clear photographs of the existing consumer unit and surrounding meter area through WhatsApp after completing the quotation form. An on-site assessment may still be required.

If testing identifies faults or remedial work, these can be explained and quoted separately. For a broader assessment of an installation, see the EICR service.
